I wished the camera men back then in Bpt would had drove around & record the city , drove through the neighborhoods , the parks & most streets , interview the residence, interview kids & teachers at schools & also city officials instead of just focusing & taking pictures & recording one main area such as downtown main st , Fairfield ave , & park ave “ Barnum festival parade,”..but hey that’s just Bridgeport for ya with really not much to look at

Thanks for the tour. My dad was an LVN down at the nursing facility at the end of the road the GE building was on. I cannot remember the name of the street or the facility. Is it still there? Thanks again.

Wow! Born and raised in Bpt. and never knew about this! Never even heard of it. WOW! Really cool! I'm surprised it's still there.

Warners/Warnaco used to have a store there. In the early 90's the store closed(If I remember correctly) then it became part of their offices. Late 90s I did Security there for them. Before that there were homes there.

I remember it well! I was a kid and remember the factories hustle and bustle b4 the Union went on strike and Remington decided to close. I remember the Trolley that used to go from the factory underneath Boston Avenue to the storage bunkers in Remington Woods off Asylum St. My parents still live on Dover AKA "Remington Village" (Bond, Dover, Remington Streets and Palisades Ave)

I left Easy Main St. in 1976 and truly it's very very different.

Just think it was built before pt Barnum had his 2nd house built in Bridgeport and was also built just 3 years after his first mansion burnt down which was no doubt his most beautiful mansion out of the 3 he had built in Bridgeport.

There’s no reason that this bridge is still closed smh … Ganim said 8yrs ago this will be his top priority to get this bridge up & going , & as you can see nothing!!.. even the mayors before him has done nothing… in addition the artic st bridge was knocked down some yrs ago just to build a park , as if we don’t have enough parks smh. Open these bridges & it will alleviate traffic & congestion. Major traffic every day on Boston ave & North ave.. imo if these bridges were open it will alleviate traffic jams ,accidents , & road rage.. what’s the purpose of paying these high car taxes if our streets are still horrible & the bridges are still closed

I remember walking those streets . Late 60s went to school at st, Charles , then to Blackham Middle , and Central High . We lived on Main street above a plumbing supply store . Across the street was Sorentos Italian market . The family that lived above was a woman and her son who had just returned from Nam . He was fried .

My dad was a tailor there, and then later at Read's at the Trumbull mall. My mom and I used to walk through the Arcade, enter Read's through a side door and go visit him at work. As a kid I loved riding the elevator which had an operator who opened and closed the metal gate and called out the floors. Memories!

And he had won the lottery I think a million dollars. But stayed living in pequannock. Did you know him or his family?that old Nova he was driving around with for years was my grandmother's old car. He bought it off my dad

I grew up at 298 prospect Street. I went to Roosevelt School in the 70s. My grandmother was a janitor at Roosevelt School. Her name was Sally. We lived right across the street from Roosevelt School. Principal kopperwatts was the principal. Do you remember my grandmother?? She was only 5 ft tall with blonde hair and she was one of the janitors at Roosevelt School.

Lived on Barnum Ave and Seaview in the late 70's.

Downtown changed alot since i was a lil nugget. I remember News Corner next to the Wendy's, the Hair Cutting school next to the courthouse where ma paid em $5 to give me jacked up haircuts that took hours, lafayette mall, Popeye's back in the late 80's next to the newspaper stand at the mall entrance, movie theater...damn...miss old Bpt. Even the hollow where i grew up changed. Columbus got a glow up for sure & what did they do to Plaza Beef??? In some ways its good cuz everything was run down, but other ways its bad cuz it reminds me of my lost youth that ill never get back... shit what i miss the most wasnt even really from bpt, but it was Stratford Town Fair, remember that?...good times...

No Ohio mall pictures. Seaside, Beardsley park, short beach, Stratford Ave. Both Marinas and pequannock, Greens, father panic, Washington park, terrace, new field park, went field, black rock etc…. Good job!!!!

While I didn’t exactly grow up in Bpt, I spent a lot of time in the city as a young boy going shopping with my Aunt and Grams back in the early to mid 70’s and then as a teenager and young adult hanging out and partying at the point at Seaside park,even lived there on and off a few times,thanks for sharing the video and great soundtrack too 😊
